How to apply

The Prospectus and Application Forms can be obtained in person from MFT by paying Rs.500 by cash or through Crossed Demand Draft. In case you download the Application Form from our website www mftindia.com your completed Application Form must be accompanied by a crossed *Demand Draft for Rs.500. Outstation candidates can obtain the Prospectus and Application form by sending a crossed *Demand Draft for Rs.600. The Institute will send the forms on receipt of such request (accompanied by the Demand Draft) by post.

Submission of Application form

The completed application form in all respects should be sent to MFT, 16 Shastri Nagar, Off 100 Feet Road, Vadapalani, Chennai – 26, mentioning “MFT Admission Form” on the top of the cover with a *Demand Draft value of Rs.500 towards entrance examination fee.. MFT does not take any responsibility for delay or loss of forms in postal transit or by courier.

Selection

All eligible candidates will have to appear for a written Entrance examination. The written examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted. Selection of candidates will be based on marks obtained in the qualification exam as well as the entrance exam conducted by the confident body on the University. The selected candidates should get the university registration form and the same should be submitted to the Institute before the last date specified.

*Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of ‘Madras Institute of Fashion Technology ‘ – payable at Chennai.

Admission Procedure and Regulations

The copies of the required documents should be submitted at the time of applying and the original documents should be submitted at the time of admission for verification.

If there is any discrepancy between the information furnished in the application form and in the supporting documents, such application will be summarily rejected.

Choice of programme once exercised will be final and no request for change will be entertained.

The final eligibility of the candidates will be checked at the time of admission. If the checking of the final eligibility is pending, the admission will remain provisional and shall be cancelled if the candidate is found to be ineligible in any respect and also reserves the right to cancel the admission at any time.

The candidate are advised to join the course within seven days of commencement of the course failing which their admission will stand cancelled without any intimation and the tuition fee paid shall be forfeited. The vacant seat shall be offered to the wait listed candidates in the order of merit.

The University and MFT reserves the right to amend, change or cancel course including date of commencement, number of seats, location, syllabus, fee structure, or any other matter reported in this prospectus with no liability attached to the institution.

Last Dates

Admission forms along with Demand Draft and supporting documents should be submitted to the Admission Officer on or before the last date given in the advertisement. The admission to the programme may also be closed earlier than the above deadline, depending on the availability of the students.

Examination

The University examination shall be conducted as scheduled by the university. The candidates have to register for all papers of the respective semester/year of study for the examinations. The controller of examinations shall issue the application forms for the exam and hall tickets. The controller of examinations shall fix the examination fees.

The student should get the No-due/No-objection certificate and Attendance certificate from the head of the institution while appearing for the examinations and for the completion of course.

Requirements of Attendance and Progress

A candidate will be deemed to have completed the course of any semester only if
1. He/She has kept not less than 75% of attendance in the total number of working days of the semester concerned as a whole.
2. His/her progress has been satisfactory and
3. His/her conduct has been satisfactory.

Candidates who do not qualify to appear for final examinations of any semester
for want of attendance and / or progress must register for any redo the semester
course at the next available opportunity.

Assessment

Students shall normally be allowed to appear for Theory Examination after submission of assignments / completion of practical wherever prescribed at the end of the programme.
Students are required to secure a minimum of 45 percent in the Term End Examination / Practical Examination and overall 50 percent (including assignment / internal marks) for successful completion of each course failing which they have to once again sit for the examination by paying exam fee.
Internal assessment marks will be awarded as per guidelines framed by the University.

Practical Examination

The Term End Practical Examination will be conducted by an internal and an external examiner appointed by the University.
The evaluation shall be on the basis of maintenance of Practical Manual/Work Book, Conduct and Result of the experiment and Viva based on experiment and duration of the examination is three hours.

Classification of Successful Candidates

Candidates who pass all the subjects and who secure 60 percent and above in aggregate of marks will be placed in the First Class, those securing 50 percent and above but below 60 percent in the aggregate will be placed in the Second Class.

The University and Institution has the rights to change the course syllabus / fees structure any time.

The student should get the No-due/No-objection certificate and Attendance certificate from the head of the institution while appearing for the examinations and for the completion of course.

The fees once paid will not be refundable under any circumstances.

The student should go to the industries periodically at their own costs.

Each student, either fresher or repeater, has to pay examination fee along with an examination form, each time he/she wishes to appear for the end examination

The Institute and University have the rights to Debar or even Dismiss the student if his discipline is bad.

Strict actions will be taken if the Student breaks the rules and regulations of the Institute.
